Adriano Chiò is Professor of Neurology at the University of Torino, Italy. He is the director of the ALS Expert Center in Torino, that aims for optimal diagnostic work-up, care, and treatment for patients with ALS/FTD and other motor neuron diseases in Italy. He is a member of the Board and currently Treasurer of the European Network for the Cure of ALS (ENCALS) and a founding member of the TRICALS consortium. He leads the Italian ALS Genetic (ITALSGEN) Consortium. His main areas of research are epidemiology, cognition, neuroimaging, phenotypes and genetics of ALS. He was awarded the 2015 Sheila Essay Award.
